Solange Neustadter, PhD, is a Los Angeles–based writer, creator, producer, faux comedian, and former psychologist originally from New York City. She makes psychologically astute, emotionally honest, slightly unhinged work about modern relationships, identity, desire, and the beautifully messy business of being human.
She is the creator, writer, producer, and host of MANFARI, an unscripted vertical comedy series adapted from her feature screenplay of the same name. The series follows two women who, fed up with dating apps and apparently still optimistic, take to the streets of Los Angeles on a live “man-hunt” in search of emotionally available—and otherwise viable—mates. The feature screenplay advanced to the Second Round of the 2025 Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition.
Solange has written four screenplays, with work recognized by the Austin Film Festival, Stowe Story Labs, the International New York Film Festival, and the Miami Screenplay Awards. Her writing blends psychological insight, irreverent humor, and a lifelong fascination with the absurd things people do in pursuit of love, belonging, transformation, and validation from unavailable men.
Her personal essay about dating etiquette and courtship was published in the Los Angeles Times as It's Hot When a Man Drives to Me. But Would This New Guy Make The Trek From The Valley? Her essays and articles have also appeared in Betches, Psych Central, and Mend.
She is the author of Love You Like the Sky: Surviving the Suicide of a Beloved, published under her legal name, because apparently one name was not enough. The memoir was a 2019 INDIES Book of the Year finalist and was featured by NBC News, Well+Good, and Brit + Co.
A graduate of NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, Solange designed her own major, People and the Universal Human Essence, which is both completely sincere and an extremely Gallatin thing to have done. She later earned a doctorate in Clinical and Transpersonal Psychology and spent fifteen years in private practice before pivoting toward writing, comedy, and entertainment—arguably a less stable but more entertaining use of her education.
Her background in psychology, spirituality, embodiment, and transformational work continues to inform everything she creates. She is especially interested in what happens when our deepest longings collide with social conditioning, conventional norms, childhood wounding patterns, and terrible texting decisions.
Born and raised in an insular Orthodox Jewish community in Manhattan, Solange began forging her own spiritual and creative path early on. She later moved to Rio de Janeiro with a backpack, no Portuguese, and no actual plan, and has since built lives and communities in Tel Aviv, Key West, New York, and Los Angeles.
Alongside her entertainment work, Solange coaches clients one-on-one and creates select courses, groups, and experiences for women centered on creativity, embodiment, pleasure, connection, and feeling more fully alive.
When she is not writing or producing, she is usually taking yet another improv class, performing stand-up at deviously questionable open mics, roller skating, power boating, playing Truth or Dare, or turning an ill-advised life choice into intellectual property.
